Self Disclosure Tag
Jan 27th, 2008 by David
I was tagged by Timmy Brister to participate in the following exercise in self-disclosure.
1. Link to the person that tagged you, and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself.
3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post, and include links to their blogs.
Seven Facts About Me
1. The first book I can remember is something about a worm eating stuff and the book having holes in it and colors. The first book I remember choosing to read for myself was one of the Tom Swift stories. The first book that ever transported me to another place was The Lord of the Rings. I still read it once a year or so!
2. I’m a continental gypsy. I spent my early years up to 15 in New Zealand. I spent the next 15 years in Australia. I’m about 8 years into a time in Omaha, Nebraska in the heartland of America. I’m hoping my next stint will be in a small parish in Ireland! (Somehow, I doubt it…)
3. Every year on our birthday, the children in my family were allowed to chose the meal for that evening. My choice was invariably sausages, fried eggs and fries (or, ‘chips’ as I would have clamored for.) To this day, I posses a particular liking for (and the mean spirited would point out, a physical resemblance to) sausages of all kinds!
4. My first crush was on Barbara Feldon. Who, you cry? "Agent 99" Maxwell Smart’s partner. Ah, Barbara. Neither KAOS nor my boyish affections were safe when you were on the box.
6. Secretly, just between my loyal reader and myself, I have been known to enjoy a spot of video gaming indulgence. Then I get convicted by Jonathan Edwards’ Resolution #4 that it’s not really "any manner of thing, whether in soul or body, less or more, but what tends to the glory of God." Then I remember I am not Jonathan and he never had an X-Box but I feel guilty anyway!
7. My favorite verse in Scripture (well, it’s a pericope, really) is Luke 15:11-32
. As one who has wilfully left the Fathers’ house and wasted his substance in riotous living, the picture of the Father not only welcoming his son, but flapping down the dusty road in undignified haste while the lad was still a long way off is even now enough to make my eyes begin to water.
Do I even know seven people who blog? Well, yes perhaps. But do they know me.. there’s the rub. I’m grateful to Jerry for making it be ok to not list seven people and doubt I will either.
Sooo, I list The Wise Man, Josh whom I’ve recently discovered and enjoy much, and Danny who is in the UK - my next continent for a 15 year stay!

Oh sure, blame me for your choosing to break the rules. Didn’t your Mom ever say “Would you jump off of a cliff just because all of your friends did?”
I’ll have to tell you what I told my mother - “Probably, yes!” I was always the follower at school and I would have in all likelihood, jumped. I’m also my ‘father’s’ son in as much as I pointed at you and said “The blog that thou gavest me, he didst post it, and I didst leap offeth his bridge!”
Hey, The Wise Man link goes to Jerry’s rule-breaking link. Do you have another, albeit less-Wise Man in mind?
Egad - Yes I did! Seems my cut and paste of your URL was less than stellar. Mea Culpa, nice catch, thanks, and hi! (fixed now)
Yeah, I thought it was me.
